Fugle-Meyer scale for assessing the recovery of motor functions after stroke
A standardized quantitative technique designed to assess the recovery of movement, balance, sensation, joint function, and pain in stroke patients. It is based on the successive stages of the return of movements according to Brunstrom and is considered one of the most comprehensive and widely used tools in research and clinical rehabilitation after stroke. It includes five sections: motor function (upper and lower extremities), sensory function, balance, range of motion in the joints and joint pain. The maximum score is 226 (100 for the motor section), higher values reflect better function. The scale is useful for tracking progress, setting rehabilitation goals, and evaluating therapy outcomes.
