Galveston Orientation and Amnesia Test (GOAT)

A clinical tool to assess a patient’s orientation and memory, especially in people with traumatic brain injuries. The test includes 10 questions that assess orientation in time, place, personality and situation, as well as the ability to reproduce specific events related to trauma. The test is designed to assess both acute and post-traumatic recovery. Scores range from 0 to 100, with higher values indicating better memory and orientation. GOAT is widely used to monitor cognitive recovery in TBI patients and predict the likelihood of long-term memory impairment or cognitive dysfunction.
