Gestational dominant (subdominant of pregnancy)
a complex biopsychosocial state of a woman, which she experiences in the period from conception to preparation for delivery. Gestational dominance is based on the creation of a new and fundamentally different constellation of links in the CNS, which provides a certain hormonal profile and a corresponding other homeostasis and form of behavior during pregnancy. Gestational dominance includes physiological and psychological components. With the help of the gestational dominant, all physiological processes occurring in the body of a pregnant woman, including the process of childbirth, are directed and maintained at the appropriate level. In other words, gestational dominance is a focus of persistent increased excitability in the cerebral cortex that occurs from the moment of pregnancy. Clinically, the process of formation of the gestational dominant is manifested in a certain inhibited state of the pregnant woman, the predominance of her interests directly related to the birth and health of the unborn child. The term was proposed by I. A. Arshavsky.
