Gourmet syndrome
A rare neuropsychological condition characterized by an obsession with food, often occurring after brain damage, especially in the frontal lobes. People with this syndrome have an obsessive need to eat in excess or may focus on cooking, taste, and enjoying food, sometimes at the expense of other important aspects of life. The syndrome is common in traumatic brain injuries, strokes, or certain neurodegenerative diseases, and may be associated with changes in behavior, personality, and impulse control. Treatment is usually aimed at managing the underlying brain pathology and behavioral therapy.
