Hans Selye’s model
a theory of stress proposed by Canadian pathologist and endocrinologist Hans Selye. As one of the biological theoretical foundations for understanding the relationship between psychological stress and the physiological state of the body, the scientist Hans Selye introduced the concept of the “general adaptation syndrome” (GSS), which describes the body’s response to psychological and environmental stressors at the physiological and psychological levels. Selye emphasized that constant exposure to psychological stress leads to a number of hormonal and physiological changes that can develop into chronic somatic symptoms, that is, into the so-called psychosomatic disorders.
