Healthy social environment

A common framework that provides individuals and society with positive and stable social conditions that promote physical and mental health, balanced growth, and all-round well-being. It is a set of relationships, interactions, systems and values that prevail in society, built on the principles of justice, cooperation, mutual respect and equal opportunities, providing each person with a sense of belonging and social security. A healthy social environment is manifested in the presence of a supportive network of family connections, friends and social institutions that help people cope with life’s difficulties and provide safe spaces for self-expression, development of abilities and achievement of goals. It is an environment in which discrimination, violence and marginalization are reduced, and dialogue, tolerance and solidarity are promoted, thus contributing to the building of cohesive societies capable of adapting to changes and challenges. A healthy social environment is also characterized by the ability to achieve a balance between the needs of the individual and the needs of the group. It ensures freedom of opinion and expression, respecting the rights of others, and upholds the values of active participation in decision-making in society, thereby instilling the principles of positive citizenship and shared responsibility. From the perspective of psychology and social sciences, such an environment is considered a protective factor against psychological and behavioral disorders, as it reduces feelings of isolation and alienation, increases life satisfaction, and supports mental health.
