(from the Greek hkemi – semi-, half-, one-sided and plkgk – blow, defeat) – paralysis of the muscles of one half of the body; unilateral loss of voluntary mobility, paralysis of the muscles of one half of the body. Hemiplegia, as a rule, is based on damage to opposite parts of the brain due to inflammation (encephalitis), tumors, injuries, as well as cerebral circulation disorders. Mild hemiplegia – hemiparesis. Double hemiplegia is a lesion of the whole body.
