A tendency to overestimate one’s ability to foresee the outcome of events after the outcome becomes apparent. This phenomenon is also known as “I knew in advance!”. It manifests itself when it seems to the reader of scientific publications that the result presented by social psychologists is obvious to any sane person, and it was not worth conducting any research to obtain it.
