Hippotherapy (ride therapy)
(from the Greek hippos – horse) neurophysiologically oriented therapy, the use of horseback riding and communication with horses in the process of rehabilitation of persons with limited motor and mental (intellectual) capabilities, primarily with limited mobility. Only a special team consisting of an attending physician (usually a neurologist), a physiotherapist who has undergone special training in hippotherapy, and an assistant physiotherapist, who must be reliable and experienced in handling horses, has the right to carry out. Achieving real results in the correction of motor disorders in the course of hippotherapy contributes to changes in the socio-psychological status of a person with disabilities, leads to an increase in his self-esteem, vital activity, and an increase in motivation for the rehabilitation process.
