Individual psychology

a branch of psychology and a psychotherapeutic system developed by Alfred Adler in the 1920s. In contrast to Freud, who focused on unconscious and sexual conflicts, Adler emphasized the need to consider both internal and external factors in order to understand personality. A person forms the basis of character through an innate “social feeling” that needs to be educated. In individual psychology, the main role is played by the conscious motives and social aspirations of a person, and not by biological impulses. A person is considered as an active subject capable of shaping his present and choosing the future, guided by intellect, values and ideals.
