International Society for Political Psychology

was founded in 1978 in the United States by Jean N. Knutson to promote scientific research in the field of political psychology and to provide a platform for collaboration between researchers and practitioners in the field of the relationship between psychological and political functions. Based in Albany, New York, ISPP has more than 1,000 members worldwide, including psychologists, political scientists, sociologists, historians, civil servants, and journalists. The ISPP organizes annual meetings with seminars, lectures and presentations to share research results and experiences. Today, ISPP is one of the world’s leading organizations for the study of psychological influence on politics and political decision-making. It is a leading international scientific organization that brings together scientists, researchers and practitioners specializing in the study of political behavior from a psychological point of view, with the aim of deepening the scientific understanding of psychological and group interactions in a political context. The aim of the ISPP is to encourage the exchange of scientific research and innovative methodologies, as well as to develop analytical tools to understand individual and group motivations in political and electoral decision-making, as well as to study the influence of emotions, values, identity and cognitive processes on political behaviour. The association also focuses on promoting collaboration between researchers and academic institutions around the world, disseminating scientific knowledge through conferences and scholarly journals, and supporting applied research projects aimed at increasing civic engagement, strengthening democracy, and understanding the psychological dynamics of audiences and political leaders around the world.
