The introduction presents the principles of organizing the content of the Emirati-Russian Psychological Dictionary and the methodological basis underlying it.

Rationale for the creation of a dictionary

The dictionary project arose out of the urgent need for a scholarly bilingual (Arabic-Russian) terminological edition required by the Sheikh Zeid Organization for People of Determination.

An analysis of Arabic and international studies, as well as a review of existing dictionary sources, showed the lack of a comprehensive bilingual vocabulary covering the main theoretical and practical areas of psychology. The systematization of psychological terminology in Arabic and Russian meets modern trends in international scientific cooperation and the exchange of cultural and professional experience.

The project was initiated and inspired by the Sheikh Zeid Organization for People of Determination, which showed a high level of academic excellence. The translation and adaptation of the terms into Russian, taking into account the scientific and cultural context, were carried out by specialists from the Ural Federal University, a recognized scientific and educational center of Russia.

Methodological basis

In the preparation of the dictionary, descriptive and systematic approaches were used, based on a qualitative analysis of terms and concepts. Researchers from Russia and the UAE sought to emphasize the features of national scientific schools and identify general global trends in the development of psychology.

The creation of a dictionary required the solution of a wide range of theoretical and practical problems. Particular attention was paid to the correctness of the translation, the accuracy of definitions and the unity of the terminological style.

The Purpose and Meaning of the Dictionary

The dictionary aims to help researchers and professionals overcome the difficulties encountered in translating and interpreting psychological concepts, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive communication between the Arabic-speaking and Russian-speaking scientific communities.

The main purpose of the publication is to interpret and systematize psychological terms in theoretical and applied aspects that contribute to the deepening of knowledge, the exchange of experience and the strengthening of intercultural interaction in the field of psychology.

Scientific and practical significance

The Emirati-Russian Psychological Dictionary is an important scientific and educational tool that:

● facilitates intercultural understanding and professional communication between specialists;

● contributes to the development of psychological research;

● is used in educational and practical activities;

● assists translators in working with psychological terminology.

The dictionary also contributes to strengthening the social and cultural role of psychology in the societies of the UAE and Russia, supporting the spread of a culture of psychological well-being and mental health care.

Content and structure of the dictionary

The dictionary includes terms related to various areas of theoretical (general, cognitive, social, physiological, experimental, differential, positive, cross-cultural, ecological, etc.) and applied psychology (clinical, pedagogical, organizational, consultative, neuropsychology, health psychology, sports, etc.).

The publication consists of an introduction, information about the development organizations and five chapters, four of which are divided into paragraphs. Also presented is a list of references and an appendix with the alphabets of the Arabic and Russian languages.

The terms in each chapter are arranged in the alphabetical order of the Russian language, contain definitions in two languages, and, if necessary, references to related terms.

In the preparation of the publication, modern scientific sources were used, including the American Psychological Dictionary (APA) and specialized Arabic-Russian dictionaries. A complete list of references is given at the end of the dictionary.
