Karyotype

The complete chromosomal set of a cell, which is the collection of all chromosomes in the nucleus of a cell, which determines the genetic characteristics of an organism. It includes 46 chromosomes (23 pairs), of which 22 pairs are autosomes (the same in males and females), and the 23rd pair are sex chromosomes (XX in females, XY in males).
