Lethargic encephalitis

A rare neurological disease in which inflammation of the brain causes prolonged drowsiness, movement disorders, and mental disorders. It was first described during an epidemic in the early XX century. Fever, headache, eye movement disorders, muscle stiffness, behavior changes, and cognitive disorders are possible. The exact cause is unknown, viral and autoimmune mechanisms are suggested. Treatment is symptomatic with the use of drugs to control the manifestations of the disease.
