Main aspects of discrimination

Key features that stand out in the process of discrimination:
1) Cognitive aspect: includes stereotypes and biased beliefs that a person forms in relation to a certain group, justifying unequal treatment in his mind. Example: Belief that women are less capable of holding leadership positions, leading to men’s preference for promotion.2) Affective aspect: refers to negative or positive feelings that affect attitudes towards a particular group, such as hatred, disgust, or limited sympathy for it. These feelings increase the tendency to discriminate even in the absence of objective reasons.3) Behavioural aspect: manifested in practices such as refusal to hire, disadvantage, social exclusion or unequal treatment. It is this aspect that makes discrimination tangible and really affects people’s lives.
