Maternal dominant (reproductive dominant)
a sequence of biological and psychological reactions that arise in connection with a woman’s readiness and desire to become a mother. They form alternating dominant states in the body, associated with biological (primarily hormonal) changes, as well as the mutual influence of psychological and social factors. The maternal dominant consists of successively alternating gestational (pregnancy subdominant), birth (birth dominant) and holding (“lactational”, lactation dominant) dominants.
