Meeting Groups

a method of socio-psychological therapy, the purpose of which is to awaken internal reserves, the desire for self-awareness and interpersonal development, to the fullest possible realization of the potential that is inherent in each individual. In the process of communication, group members freely express their feelings, discuss life problems and ways to solve them, jointly look for ways to resolve interpersonal conflicts, talk about their personal experience of overcoming manifestations of problems or functional deficiencies. Individuals come to a fuller knowledge of themselves and of each other than is possible in ordinary social relations. The climate of openness, friendliness, mutual assistance allows a person to feel safe and bring the most intimate secrets for discussion, accept and then reproduce in real life, updated and constructive forms of behavior. They belong to growth groups or self-help groups (see Mutual Aid Group).
