Memory scotomization (scotomization amnesia)
A type of amnesia in which there is a “loss” from memory of psychotraumatic impressions or one’s own impulses or actions that cause anxiety and fear. At the same time, memories of the situation, indifferent events that coincided with those amnesiated in time, are preserved. This condition differs from hysterical amnesia (see Hysterical Amnesia in Chapter 2.1: Key Psychological Concepts in Clinical Psychology) in that it occurs in persons who did not have premorbidly hysterical character traits.
