Mental health promotion programmes in schools
Programs are a set of planned activities, preventive and therapeutic services implemented in the school environment, aimed at promoting positive mental health of students and school staff, including teachers, administration and parents. The goal of these programs is to provide a supportive learning environment that promotes balanced psychological and social development through methods such as group and individual psychological support sessions, mental health awareness campaigns, encouraging positive coping skills, early counseling, and training teachers in early detection of mental health conditions. Studies show that promoting mental health in schools contributes to higher academic achievement, lower dropout rates, and fewer behavioral and emotional problems, as well as fostering students’ sense of belonging, safety, and self-discipline.
