Metacognitive awareness
the degree to which the student is aware of his or her own thought processes during learning. It involves a person’s knowledge of their learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, and strategies for planning, monitoring, and self-evaluation, one of the highest levels of cognitive organization, contributing to the development of self-directed learning skills and problem-solving. Students with high metacognitive awareness often achieve high academic results.
