Misogyny

persistent prejudice, hostility, contempt or hatred of women and femininity, expressed in social attitudes, behaviors and cultural norms aimed at suppressing, devaluing or controlling women. From the point of view of psychology, misogyny can be both external (on the part of society, institutions and individuals) and internalized – when women unconsciously internalize misogynistic attitudes, directing aggression or distrust towards themselves and other women. Misogyny is associated with impaired self-esteem, gender identity, and psycho-emotional well-being.
