Motor perseveration
a form of perseveration, obsessive reproduction of the same movements or their elements (writing letters or drawing). The following types are distinguished:
1) elementary motor perseveration manifests itself in the repeated repetition of individual elements of movement and occurs when the premotor parts of the cerebral cortex and underlying subcortical structures are affected;
2) systemic motor perseveration is characterized by multiple repetition of entire movement programs and occurs when the prefrontal parts of the cerebral cortex are affected;
3) motor speech perseveration manifests itself in the form of multiple repetitions of the same syllable or word in oral speech and writing and occurs as one of the manifestations of efferent motor aphasia when the lower parts of the premotor cortex of the left hemisphere are affected (in right-handed people).
