Myotonia (Thomsen’s disease)
A rare inherited neuromuscular disorder in which muscles are unable to relax after contraction, occurs due to abnormal electrical activity in muscle fibers, resulting in long-term muscle stiffness. Myotonia can affect any muscle group, depending on the type of disease. The onset of the pathology is possible at any age. Myotonic phenomena intensify in the cold, which can limit the performance of professional and household movements.
