Neuropsychoimmunology
An interdisciplinary field that studies the effects of psychological factors, in particular chronic stress and anxiety, on the nervous and immune systems. Studies have shown that constant negative emotions or uncontrolled stress can weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to infections or slowing wound healing. They can also exacerbate chronic diseases such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. This field seeks to understand the biological connections between mind and body with the goal of developing therapeutic and preventive strategies that strengthen immunity and improve overall health through positive psychological and behavioral interventions.
