The science of upbringing and education of children with intellectual disabilities, one of the branches of defectology. He is engaged in the study of the problems of upbringing and education of mentally retarded people, as well as issues of their social rehabilitation. The subject of oligophrenopedagogy is the theory and practice of teaching, upbringing and development, social, legal adaptation and rehabilitation, integration into society of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. In oligophrenopedagogy, general methods of education and training are used, but taking into account the tasks of correctional and educational work and the peculiarities of the development of mentally retarded children. Particular attention is paid to the creation of individual correctional and developmental programs that provide the social orientation of pedagogical influences and the socialization of the child.
