Parental Controls
A form of upbringing in which parents direct the child’s activity in a certain direction, set the permissible boundaries of personal freedom and responsibility. The purpose of control is to help the child become an independent and responsible person, and not to subordinate his life to strict rules. Too strict and intrusive parental control has negative consequences for the child’s psyche (see Overprotection in Chapter 1.12 Key Psychological Concepts in Family Psychology).
