The participation of parents in socio-pedagogical rehabilitation turns them into accomplices in the rehabilitation process, which is the most important task facing the social pedagogue and rehabilitation specialist. A number of problems arise in solving it, including:
1) rehabilitation of family members in which a child with a disability was born;
2) informing about the rights and obligations of parents with a child with disabilities;
3) explaining to parents the prospects for the development of their child and the possibility of overcoming the pathology, the immediate and long-term goals of rehabilitation;
4) development of an individual rehabilitation route and determination of the parents’ place in it;
5) training parents in methods of social and pedagogical rehabilitation of a child with disabilities;
6) social rehabilitation work with the child with the gradual inclusion of parents;
7) gradual expansion of the direct participation of parents and reduction of the role of the specialist in rehabilitation work with the child;
8) ensuring the socio-pedagogical patronage of the family;
9) improving the socio-pedagogical training of parents, taking into account the results achieved and the opening prospects for the child’s rehabilitation
