Photosensitivity

genetically determined predisposition to the occurrence of epileptic seizures under the influence of light or visual images. It can be asymptomatic throughout life or manifest itself in epileptic seizures. There are different forms of photosensitivity: there can be seizures that occur exclusively with photostimulation, a combination of spontaneous and photosensitive seizures, or photosensitivity as an isolated phenomenon detected only by electroencephalography (EEG), the latter occurs in 0.3-3% of people in the population. The concept of photosensitiveness refers to neurology, but is often discussed at a psychologist’s appointment, especially with epileptic clients.
