Phubbing

neglect of the interlocutor in a communication situation, which consists in using the phone instead of being involved in a dialogue. In everyday life, people often think that a little distraction on a smartphone doesn’t make much of a difference in a relationship, but research shows that frequent access to a partner’s phone leads to a dramatic decrease in relationship satisfaction (Roberts, James & David, Meredith). So, phubbing is the constant use of a smartphone, which causes a lack of human interaction or a more conscious and deep contact with another person, often causing unpleasant sensations to the communication partner. It is noted that phubbing can serve as a kind of psychological defense – “withdrawal into virtual reality.”
