A neuropsychological disorder that manifests itself as an impairment in the ability to perform arithmetic calculations that is not associated with general cognitive impairment, speech problems, or motor impairments. It is associated with a violation of the basic processes of processing numerical information, often due to damage to the dominant parietal lobe of the brain, especially the angular gyrus.
