Problem children

children who experience significant behavioral, emotional, or learning difficulties that prevent them from adapting to school, family, or the social environment. These problems manifest themselves as difficulty with discipline, resistance to rules, aggression, distractibility, chronic anxiety, or poor academic performance, and can lead to problems in relationships with peers, teachers, and family members. The causes of these problems are diverse and include biological factors such as deficits in higher neuropsychological functions or neurodevelopmental disorders; psychological factors, such as lack of emotional regulation or emotional trauma; and social factors, such as an unstable family environment, lack of stimulation, or social or cultural pressures. Working with these children requires a comprehensive, multifaceted assessment that includes neuropsychological analysis, behavioural assessments, interviews with families and teachers, and a study of the child’s environment. The purpose of this assessment is to identify the true causes of problems and develop comprehensive intervention programs aimed at changing behavior, developing social and emotional skills, supporting academic learning, and better adapting to the environment. It also takes into account the individual characteristics of each child to ensure comprehensive and balanced development.
