Professional Development Ceiling (Peter Principle)
The concept that an employee climbs the career ladder to the level of incompetence. The concept was formulated by L. Peter and explains the phenomena of professional stagnation and reduced efficiency when moving up the career ladder. In organizational psychology, it is considered as one of the causes of managerial problems. Overcoming this state requires a system of continuous professional development, adequate assessment of competencies in promotion, and the development of managerial skills.
