Raising a child with ADHD

a specialized, comprehensive and adaptive approach to parenthood aimed at developing, supporting and socializing a child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. In raising a child with ADHD, it is necessary to avoid two extremes: excessive pity and permissiveness, on the one hand, and making too high demands on them, on the other. It is important to exclude the excessive requirement of punctuality when the child performs errands, as well as cruel treatment and punishment. It is important to remember that behavioral disorders are treatable, and hyperactivity decreases with age, but this process usually takes a long time.
Behavior modification techniques that can be recommended to educators and parents of children with hyperactivity:
1) in relations with the child, it is necessary to maintain a “positive model”, praise him in every case when he deserves it, emphasize his successes, help him strengthen his self-confidence;
2) avoid repeating the words “no” and “can’t”;
3) speak restrained and soft;
4) give the child only one task for a certain period of time so that he can complete it;
5) use visual stimulation to reinforce verbal instructions;
6) to encourage the child for all types of activities that require concentration;
7) adhere to a clear daily routine;
8) avoid large crowds of people as much as possible;
9) limit the child to one partner during the game, avoid restless, noisy friends;
10) protect the child from overwork, since it leads to a decrease in self-control and an increase in hyperactivity;
11) give the child the opportunity to use excess energy, daily physical training in the fresh air is useful.
