A type of aphasia in which a person has difficulty understanding spoken or written speech, while their ability to speak fluently and construct grammatically correct sentences remains intact. However, speech may be meaningless or contain irrelevant words, the condition is usually associated with damage to Wernicke’s area in the left temporal lobe.
