Residual hearing
preserved hearing in a person with hearing impairment (hearing loss, deafness). It helps in the formation of auditory perception, which affects the formation of the rhythmic and intonation structure in future oral speech. The remnants of hearing are not equal in the breadth of the range of perceived frequencies and the value of the thresholds of perceived sounds. For example:
1) Hearing-impaired (hearing lossy) people retain the ability to independently accumulate a speech stock with the help of residual hearing.
2) In the deaf (early deaf) – usually there are remnants of hearing, which allow them to perceive strong, sharp sounds.
Individual hearing aids are used to develop residual hearing. They do not correct hearing, but only amplify sounds, transferring them to the desired frequency range and facilitating perception.
