Sadism

within the Dark Triad (see Dark Triad in Chapter 1.7 Key Psychological Concepts in Personality Psychology) is seen as the tendency to take pleasure in inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others, whether physically or psychologically.
Behavioral manifestations:
1) Pleasure from watching suffering.
2) Tendency to bullying, aggression, domination.
3) The desire to control and subjugate.
4) Disregard for moral restrictions.
Forms:
1) Physical sadism is the direct infliction of pain.
2) Verbal sadism – humiliation, insults.
3) Vicar sadism – observing the suffering of others (for example, through the media).
4) Everyday sadism is a character trait that manifests itself in taking pleasure in hurting other people or animals or watching them suffer. Sadism is associated with a lack of empathy and with psychopathic traits. Particular attention is paid to the differentiation of sadistic and psychopathic types of motivation, since of all the “dark” traits, it is individuals with pronounced psychopathic and sadistic traits who demonstrate especially cruel behavior and aggression, including in the absence of provocation.
