Schizophasia

A symptom of mental disorders, expressed in speech discontinuity – a violation of the structure of speech, in which phrases are built correctly, but do not carry any semantic load, and the content of speech corresponds to the content of delirium. The associations used in schizophasia are random and chaotic. Schizophasia is characterized by increased speech activity (speech pressure), as well as a “monologue symptom”, characterized by speech inexhaustibility and lack of need for an interlocutor. As a rule, this symptom is combined with external orderliness, accessibility for communication, and relative intellectual and affective preservation of patients. Consciousness in schizophasia is not disturbed. Schizophasia is primarily characteristic of schizophrenia, but it can also occur in organic lesions of the brain.
