Secondary needs according to Murray
As a rule, psychological ones are not associated with a specific organic process or physical satisfaction. They are formed in the process of education and training.
Examples of secondary needs:
1) the need for achievement (the desire to succeed, to overcome obstacles);
2) the need for recognition (the desire to obtain a certain social status);
3) material needs (in the possession of things, in the creation of things, in order and organization);
4) attachment needs (belonging to a certain circle of people, caring for another person);
5) information needs (in cognition – the desire to obtain knowledge, in exposition – the desire to teach others).
