Sensual delirium

a kind of delusion based not on logical interpretations of reality, but on an intuitive judgment (“feeling”), which receives in the patient’s mind an unjustifiably strong, painful persuasiveness. Such delusional ideas are perceived by the patient as a given, which does not require any logical confirmation and justification. In sensual delusions, patients usually do not bring any evidence in favor of their belief, but unshakably defend it: “This is so, because it is so.” When confronted with an attempt at logical dissuasion, they may admit the truth of some general arguments against their ideas, but they will never accept the conclusions drawn from the revealed contradiction for their particular case.
