Sex-linked inheritance
A type of inheritance in which genes are passed on through sex chromosomes (gonosomes), and the traits controlled by these genes are manifested in offspring of a particular sex. Features of inheritance: – women (XX) have more opportunities to compensate for recessive genes; – in males (XY), recessive genes on the X chromosome are always manifested; -The Y chromosome carries fewer genes than the X. Examples of diseases include hemophilia, color blindness, and muscular dystrophy.
