Social Consciousness

a psychological state in which a person is aware of his image and actions perceived by other people in a society or group. In this state, a person focuses on the impression that his behavior makes on others and how he is evaluated by others, which encourages him to follow social norms more carefully and act in accordance with group or cultural expectations. Self-consciousness is characterized by an external orientation, in which a person is concerned with how others perceive him, and not only with his inner feelings. This type of mindfulness leads to increased self-discipline, behavior control, and compliance with social norms, as the individual seeks to minimize any behavior that may be criticized or considered socially unacceptable. From a psychological point of view, self-awareness increases the ability to interact effectively in society, since a person can adjust his behavior according to different situations and different communities. It also contributes to the development of social skills and impressionability, as a person becomes more sensitive to feedback from others and has better control over emotions and behavior in social situations. In a social context, this concept explains how people can change their behavior in groups or in front of an audience compared to behavior in isolation or in private situations, as awareness of external observation leads to greater commitment to collective values, rules, and norms.
