Social impact
The process by which people’s attitudes, behaviors, or beliefs change as a result of their interactions with others. Influence can be direct (e.g., persuasion and direction) or indirect (e.g., social pressure or imitation). In interpersonal communication, social influence is fundamental to understanding how collective behavior is formed and public opinion is formed. It also helps to explain the mechanisms of leadership, subordination, and negotiation in human relationships.
