Social rehabilitation
acquisition by a patient or a person with a disability or restoration of self-care skills lost as a result of the disease; It is facilitated by the creation of the necessary conditions for the independent existence of a person with disabilities, the provision of household services, the organization of meals, patronage and the provision of social and medical assistance. Social and domestic rehabilitation includes:
1) Social and domestic arrangement – creation of the necessary conditions for the independent existence of a person with disabilities by adapting his home to its functional capabilities, equipping the premises with special auxiliary devices to facilitate self-care.
2) Social and domestic orientation is the process of familiarizing a person with disabilities with objects and surroundings of social and domestic purpose. Social and domestic orientation is especially important for people with visual impairments, mental illnesses, when changing the usual environment.
3) Social and domestic education – training of persons with disabilities in the skills of self-sufficiency in everyday life, personal safety, issues of diet therapy, daily work, use of medicines, skills in the use of auxiliary devices and technical means. First of all, technical aids for hearing and visual impairments, as well as prostheses, crutches, walkers and other devices for persons with musculoskeletal disorders. When training this category of persons in the use of technical means of rehabilitation, it is necessary to take into account the compliance of ergonomic requirements with the physical and psychophysiological capabilities of a person with disabilities.
4) Social and domestic adaptation is the adaptation of a person with a disability to specific living conditions. In some cases, the possibilities of adapting a person with disabilities to familiar everyday objects, conditions, household equipment are used on the basis of rehabilitation potential with the use of elementary devices. In other cases, special auxiliary devices are required to ensure not only social and domestic adaptation, but also a relatively independent lifestyle.
Social and domestic adaptation of persons with disabilities is implemented in three categories of housing:
1) specially equipped apartments;
2) specially equipped modified houses with a complex of social services;
3) specialized dwellings (boarding houses of general and psychoneurological profile).
