Social roles
a set of behaviors and responsibilities expected of a person within the framework of his position in a society or group (for example, the role of a parent, friend or leader). These roles determine a person’s interaction with other people and their expectations. In interpersonal communication, understanding roles helps to clarify boundaries and avoid conflicts, since each participant is aware of what is expected of him and what he can expect from the other.
