Speech kinesthesias

(from the Greek kinema – movement and aisthesis – feeling, sensation) is a form of kinesthetic sensations. Afferent impulses that go from the peripheral organs of speech to the cerebral cortex. They occur not only during external speech activity, but also during the performance of mental actions, when there may be an increase in the tone of the speech muscles and the occurrence of motor impulses due to the hidden pronunciation of words. The performance of difficult or new tasks is associated with an increase in the level of speech kinesthesia, and with the automation of mental operations, this level decreases significantly. To study speech kinesthesias, as a rule, an electromyograph is used, which records motor activity from the lips, tongue, larynx.
