State of flow (autotelic experience)

a state of full involvement in the activity, when a person feels as focused as possible, energetic and satisfied; an activity that is done not for the sake of reward, but for the sake of itself. Autotelic experience, or the state of flow, raises the personality to a qualitatively different level. Alienation gives way to infatuation, boredom is replaced by joy, helplessness turns into a sense of one’s own power. Psychic energy is no longer wasted on external goals, but contributes to the strengthening of one’s own “I”. When a feeling of inner satisfaction arises, a person begins to appreciate the present and ceases to be a hostage of a bright future.
