Stevens’ Law

Stevens’ law: A psychophysical law that expresses a quantitative relationship between the intensity of a stimulus and the intensity of a sensation. in an exponential form. It is a modification of the basic Weber-Fechner psychophysical law (see above). which is often called a power law – especially in English sources. Although the idea of the power law was proposed by researchers in the 19th century. Stevens is credited with revitalizing the law and publishing a set of psychophysical data to support it in 1957.
