Styles of family upbringing
an integral system of parental approaches, attitudes, methods and emotional reactions in relation to the child, which determines the psychological atmosphere of his development and forms his personal characteristics, behavior and self-esteem. The following styles of family upbringing are distinguished:
1) Authoritarian: rigid rules without explanations, suppression of initiative, punishment;
2) Authoritative (democratic): clear rules, but with an explanation of their meaning, taking into account the child’s opinion;
3) Liberal (permissive): lack of clear boundaries, permissiveness, minimum control;
4) Indifferent (dismissive): indifference to the needs of the child, emotional coldness and detachment.
