Tertiary prevention

a set of medical, psychological, pedagogical, social, and other measures aimed at preventing complications and improving the quality of life in persons who already have the disease. It often includes rehabilitation after treatment, resocialization after the disease and adaptation to the disease, prevention of relapses and prolongation of the remission period. Unlike primary prevention, which aims to prevent the onset of disease, tertiary prevention aims to mitigate the effects of an existing disease or injury that has long-term consequences.
