Thalassotherapy

(from the ancient Greek thalassa – “sea” + therapia – “treatment”) is a therapeutic approach that involves the use of the marine environment to improve health and rehabilitation. Thalassotherapy includes treatments using seawater, sea air, sea mud and algae, often combined with swimming, hydrotherapy and exposure to natural marine climates. It is considered a type of climatotherapy and is used for physical, psychological and social rehabilitation. The therapeutic effect is diverse and includes improving blood circulation, stimulating metabolic processes, relaxing muscles, reducing stress and improving general well-being. Thalassotherapy is used for both preventive and restorative purposes to treat chronic diseases, limited mobility and psychosomatic conditions, as well as to promote overall health and improve the quality of life. Its effectiveness depends on individual programs that take into account the state of health, age, preferences and environmental conditions.
